Grady Judd is running out of people to arrest in Polk County so he has teamed up with the Sheriff in Lake County. In the latest May and June 2015 operation, they have arrested 101 people. Most of them were in prostitution stings where the cops were either posing as prostitutes on the Internet or responding to prostitution ads on Backpage.com or Craigslist.com. The rest of the internet sex sting arrests were for men responding to adult Internet social network sites.
The press release is today so I am sure Grady will be telling his audience how he is making Florida safe with the sex sting operations. With respect to prostitution, it would be simpler to make it legal. The same thing with marijuana, make it legal. Take the money out it, and simply regulate it. Prostitution has been around as long as there have been men and women. There was a show on the discovery channel recently about female penguins that traded sexual favors for rocks to build their nests. Even the birds engage in prostitution.
Sadly, most prostitution is the result of drug addiction. We should treat addiction as a medical problem and work to help people rather than incarcerate them. For members of the Florida Sheriff’s Association, the stings produce arrests, publicity and justify Federal funding so there is no chance it will come to an end.
The best way to not get arrested is to not commit a crime. Internet hookup sites are dangerous places and contact with children for sex is absolutely prohibited. You can be innocently on an adult site and get a text or response from someone saying they are underage. Terminate all contact, flag the ad or response never under any circumstances continue to chat with anyone that even remotely suggests they are underage.
If a loved one has been arrested for traveling to meet a minor, Internet solicitation of a minor or sexting, or charged with internet or cyber crimes involving sex stings call 941 366 3506 for a free consultation.
